TODAY IN HISTORY
On April 11, 1947 Jackie Robinson became the first black player to play baseball in a major league baseball game, playing in an exhibition game for the New York Dodgers against the New York Yankees. Robinson was named Rookie of the Year for 1947 and helped the Dodgers win the pennant.
